Lyrics of Faith is a podcast that explores the theology behind the songs we sing. Each episode takes one worship song and reflects on it through a series of gentle, accessible theological lenses — Who is God? Who are we? What does the song reveal about God’s saving and sustaining work? How does it fit within the big story of Scripture, from creation to new creation? What does it say about our relationship with Jesus? And how might these truths shape the way we live?
Rather than focusing on the history of the song or the songwriter’s intention, Lyrics of Faith invites listeners to sit with the lyrics themselves — discovering the biblical themes, spiritual depth, and everyday discipleship that our worship points us toward. It’s an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and let the songs of the church form us in faith, hope, and love.
About Me
My name is Alanna Sorrensen. I’ve walked with Christ for over 40 years and am deeply involved in my local church. In my role as RTO Manager with the SU Institute of Training — part of SU Australia Ministries — I have the joy of equipping future chaplains and youth workers. Here on Lyrics of Faith, I explore the biblical themes and theological richness woven into the worship songs we sing, encouraging thoughtful reflection and deeper engagement with the truths they proclaim.

Consider what it means that Jesus entered into darkness for our sake and what it means that He rose, victorious, as King.
